As part of the Moore community, you are invited to join in an intimate celebration of Happy Fernandez on February 21, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm in the Great Hall. We will offer personal remembrances in the Quaker tradition, inviting anyone who wishes to offer a brief thought or memory of their time with Happy at Moore. Coffee will follow.

Happy Scholarship   Happy Scholarship
A new scholarship fund has been established at Moore in memory of Happy Fernandez. A scholarship honoring Happy is particularly appropriate because raising money for scholarships and fellowships was a special focus of hers. During her 13 years as president of Moore, she secured more than $3.5 million in new scholarships and fellowships. Your donation will help us continue the quality of arts education Happy led and, in doing so, honor her memory.

Warrior Writers Performance   Warrior Writers Performance
In conjunction with the exhibition Living as Form (The Nomadic Version), on view in The Galleries through March 16, members of Warrior Writers, a Philadelphia-based, veteran-focused arts organization, will present a public reading of their writing, accompanied by music, in the exhibition's Hub Space on Friday, March 1 at 6 pm. As an extension of this project The Galleries, in partnership with Moore's student government, have organized a month-long, citywide Art Supply Drive to collect art supplies for Warrior Writers art workshops.

Film al Fresco   Film al Fresco
Indie film and food will converge this summer with the launch of Film al Fresco, an outdoor film series presented by The Galleries at Moore. The 2013 summer series will dish up independent films by Philadelphia-area filmmakers and tasty street snacks from local food trucks every other Friday from June 14 through August 9, 2013. The films will be shown on a large outdoor screen in Aviator Park. The Galleries at Moore received a $20,000 Knight Arts Challenge Grant to establish the film series. Film submissions will be accepted February 15 through March 31 2013.
