|New Gallery Exhibitions |
On view through October 19 in The Galleries at Moore are new works by artists Tra Bouscaren and Marlo Pascual. Pascual creates psychologically charged photo-based sculptures and installations that undermine romantic notions of the photograph and hover in the interstice between image and object. Bouscaren’s large-scale, site-specific installation utilizes video, painting, sound and kinetic sculpture to create an ominous, hallucinatory environment that speaks to the darker side of technology and human nature.

The annual Studio Conversations series, presented by Graduate Studies at Moore's Studio Art program, will take place on Monday, September 23 at 6:30 pm. It will feature conceptual artist Tom Marioni, curator Judith Tannenbaum and artist/curator Richard Torchia. The Studio Conversations series features leading artists, curators and critics discussing artistic issues and practice across media and international boundaries. The conversations are intended to address the emerging globalization and internationalization of the fine arts and what this means in the 21st century.

|Jump/Start Fashion Show
Re-Tulled is the theme for this year’s Jump/Start Fashion Show. The annual event, traditionally the first fashion show of the new school year, will take place Tuesday, October 1 at 6 pm in The Great Hall. As a tribute to the Pennsylvania Ballet’s 50th Anniversary, Moore fashion design students will use tulle in a contemporary design with a reference to its use in ballet. Select student designs will be on view in the Wilson Gallery from October 19, 2013 through January 11, 2014.
