Commencement Speaker Announced Moore is pleased to announce that Michelle Ortiz ’00 will be this year’s Commencement speaker. Ortiz has a BFA from Moore College of Art & Design and was a fine arts major. She also holds a Master’s from Rosemont College. Ortiz has designed and created more than 30 large-scale public works both nationally and internationally. She also works with various nonprofit arts organizations in Philadelphia. Moore Wins Knight Arts Grant At a reception on April 23 at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Galleries at Moore received one of 35 Knight Arts Challenge Philadelphia grants. All grants need to be matched one-to-one with additional funding. This year, the prestigious competitive grant drew 1,267 applicants. The grant provides funding to help Moore create an outdoor summer urban “drive-in” movie theatre experience beginning in summer 2013. Congratulations to Kaytie Johnson and The Galleries at Moore. 2012 Senior Show Awards Announced On Wednesday evening, April 25, students, staff and faculty gathered at Moore for the 2012 Senior Show Awards Ceremony in the Great Hall. The ceremony immediately preceded the VIP reception for the 2012 Senior Show: Emerging Artists and Designers. The show is on view April 25 – May 13, 2012 in The Galleries at Moore. MOOREcycle is a Success On Saturday, April 21, 2012, Moore held the first-annual MOOREcycle event as part of the Philadelphia Science Festival on The Parkway. Hundreds of people stopped by to see student work, make pinwheels, have their faces painted and watch students fly their kites. The winners of Student Services’ design and fine arts competition and the Foundation kite competition were also announced that day. READ MORE ABOUT THIS SUCCESS |
