New iPad Initiative for New BFA Students
Moore College of Art & Design is excited to announce a new initiative that will transform the learning experience for new BFA students entering in the Fall of 2012. Each new student will be given an Apple® iPad® 2. Pre-populated apps selected to support the visual art and design education at Moore will come loaded and ready for students to use in their classes While the primary purpose of this initiative is to support new students who will be taking the new Foundation curriculum, the College will also make available these customized apps and other content to all returning students who already have an iPad or who want to purchase one.

network: Launch Into Fashion
The launch of network, The Galleries new series of networking events focused on design in Philadelphia, kicks off Friday, February 17, 6 – 8 pm with network: Launch into Fashion. Participants are invited to rock their favorite style and accessories for a night of refreshments, local DJ Sammy Slice and the chance to meet some of Philadelphia’s top designers and fashion experts. The evening’s featured speakers are Elissa Bloom, executive director of the new Philadelphia Fashion Incubator, and Jay McCarroll, Philadelphia-based designer and winner of Project Runway, season one.

2012 Distinguished Alumnae

2012 Distinguished Alumnae and Annual Alumnae Exhibition
The Annual Alumnae Exhibition: Materiality, featuring the fashion and textile designs of 35 alumnae artists, is on view through March 17, 2012 in the Wilson Gallery. The annual Alumnae Reunion on Saturday, February 18, 2012 will feature the distinguish alumnae luncheon honoring Mary Lou Ford-Dallam ’66, Margie Palatini ’72 and Lonni Rossi ’70 and close with the Materiality reception and fashion show. The juried exhibition features original fabric designs as well as a curated selection of fashion designs. Celebrating the works of graduates of all majors, this show was held in conjunction with FiberPhiladelphia.

International Study 2012

Moore Offers Alternative Spring Break
Moore is giving students the opportunity to make a difference during Spring Break. Through the Student Services department, six students will take part in an Alternative Spring Break experience March 5 - 9, 2012. Students will participate in three to four days of community service at different Philadelphia organizations. Students will stay in the residence halls and participate in team building activities in the evening.

Moore’s Accrediting Bodies to Visit College

Accreditation Site Visit Scheduled
As part of the ten-year reaccreditation process, teams representing two of Moore’s accrediting bodies, the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and the Middle States Association of the Commission on Higher Education, will conduct a site visit at the College from February 26 through February 29, 2012. They will meet with representatives from the Board and with administrators, faculty, staff and students. An all-college meeting is scheduled for February 29, 9:30 am, where the teams will present their findings.
